Nothing much has changed in figure skating. Reputation still adidas adipure reigns supreme. The judges still make decisions based on what they hoped to see, not on what actually happened. If it's not a completely fixed result, it's so flawed as to leave one wondering why they even bothered to watch.
The latest example of why this adidas adizero once-so-popular sport is in trouble was Friday night's men's competition at the world figure skating championships. Patrick Chan, the reigning two-time world champion skating in his home country, fell twice and made sloppy errors on two other jumps, but nonetheless was given the world title over a basically unknown and totally delightful 19-year-old from Kazakhstan named Denis Ten who performed far better and adidas f50 adizero should have won.
"Seriously?" former U.S. national champion Johnny Weir tweeted after he saw how Chan was propped up by the judges.
